I had the opportunity to work with a unique experimental model for spondyloarthritis, start a close collaboration with Prof. Taurog. Together, we adjusted this experimental model towards a more pre-clinical model, which can be used to validate new therapies for spondyloarthritis (ankylosing spondylitis), a rheumatic disorder.

  • Postdoctoral Researcher / Scientist Cellular Immunology at BPRC nonprofit organization

I worked at the department of Parasitology (Department heads Dr. A. Thomas and Dr. C. Kocken). I was responsible to develop/formulate an adequate adjuvant for our in-house developed synthetic protein vaccine against Plasmodium falciparum. For that purpose, we collaborated with the eMVI (European Malaria Vaccine Initiative) and IDRI (Infectious Disease Research Institute) in Seattle, WA. The latter company I visited for one month to discuss our plans and to perform the first experiments. I supervised 2 research technicians.
