Selected Achievements: * As consultant for DSD have worked on Allison Programs in both their commercial side and their Military programs. I am approved for ITAR programs. My work here has included transmission VB routing and Stacks, Gear Stacks, and Clutch Design. • Launching New Product As PDT leader for GM’s new 8 speed transmission controls, transmission has had rave reviews from the press and exceeded expectations for performance and fuel economy. Controls area reliability in the field has demonstrated a well-designed and executed program. • Managing Challenging Times. Managed major warranty reduction program in 6 speed RWD transmission. Organized dealer input with components being returned from the field and with suppliers to improve quality and made major reductions in warranty. Worked with valve body casting supplier to make process and engineering changes to take them from an unacceptable PPM rate to one of the best in the corporation, reducing porosity and laminations. Pump Body casting supplier had unacceptable leak test reject rate. Instituted design and process changes to significantly reduce the reject rate. • Driving Profitability. Worked with supplier to develop new VB to Pump high pressure seal system, reducing packaging space and cost by $7.00/ transmission. • Patents. Patent application submitted for lost motion system on new shift-by-wire controls system. Patent denied and device never went past prototype stage. Patent applied for but denied on seal design with new anti-rotation system to prevent seal wear. Design was implemented into production. • Government Regulation. Developed and tested new components for fuel system that met or exceeded new government requirements for ORVR (Onboard Refueling Vapor Recovery) and Enhanced Evaporative Emissions as well as meeting existing requirements for barrier testing. All this accomplished in budget and with reduced warranty from old design. Made changes to corporate fuel cap resulting in 5 fold reduction in warranty across all GM cars. Redesigned transmission case, gasket, and valve body cover for 4-fold reduction in leak warranty.
