I am Jie Hong and I am currently studying Business Management at Nanyang Polytechnic. With a strong passion for business, I aspire to become an entrepreneur. I learned Financial Accounting and achieved academic excellence which led me to take on the diploma in Business Management. This has made me more certain of my path on becoming an entrepreneur and gaining knowledge of the business world. Through working as an administrator at a tuition centre and being a service crew, I have honed my abilities in communicating with people from all walks of life and learned to assist their needs. These roles have taught me the importance of communication and critical thinking, and allowed me to excel in a dynamic work environment. With great organisational skills and good time management, I was able to complete tasks early and be able to start up a small business where I sold goods for a higher price than I bought for. Through this endeavour, I have learned how to market items using pricing strategies, applying the lessons of others’ journeys to my own enterprise, and avoiding their mistakes. I became financially sharper and socially nimbler, with an enriched passion to become a business professional.
As an administrator at Genius Plus Academy, I provide non-teaching academic services such as creating solutions for lesson materials. In addition, I also handle administrative matters namely the management of student communication. Progressed into PA (Marketing), creating marketing materials and arrangement of marketing content respectively. Additionally, as a Teaching Assistant, I sit in for classes to help students who fall behind the class and ensure they understand the class. I also aid in class relief, teaching Primary School to Secondary School Math classes.

As a service crew of Beast & Butterflies, my main job is to clear tables and to ensure that the cleanliness of the restaurant is up to standard. Room service was also part of my job as customers staying at MSOCIAL can order food through room service. As I progressed in this job, my manager trusted me with handling bill payments and becoming a hostess. As a hostess, I greeted and guided customers to their reserved tables and handled walk-ins. With more interactions with guests, I became more confident with speaking and holding a conversation with them.
