• Advised approximately 50 students in middle and high school on a regular basis including at-risk counseling. Had frequent contact with teachers and parents to gauge how students were progressing. Made contact with outside agencies when needed to provide best possible treatment. • Implemented Project SUCCESS, a SAMSHA evidenced based program that works to reduce the factors that put students at risk for substance use. Program components include Prevention Education Series for 7th and 9th graders, individual and group counseling and school-wide awareness and outreach activities. • Participated in freshmen orientation which included meeting with parents and students and recommending specific classes and opportunities for their desired career path. • Developed and presented parent seminars in an effort to build a parent coalition. Topics included Body Safety (sexual abuse program), and Internet Safety. • Created a student group whose mission is to promote a positive school environment; Coached students as they planned monthly awareness events, such as guest speakers, SADD activities, and a movie night. • Constructed and executed a freshmen mentor program which includes a freshmen kickoff day, targets struggling freshmen and pairs them with strong upperclassmen to work on study skills and peer relationships.
