Singapore
Hi! I am an incoming final year Computer Science undergraduate at the National University of Singapore, deeply interested in the field of Computer Science with emphasis on artificial intelligence and cybersecurity, and am actively exploring both my interests. Currently, I am interested in AI Security research. I have just wrapped up my Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) at NUS on LLM watermarking, and will now be doing my Final Year Project on Model Unlearning. Meanwhile, I am exploring independent research projects. Beyond research, I enjoy building things - whether it is a side project, a tool, or just experimenting with an idea to see if it works. Having said that, I am always eager to learn something new, and look forward to taking up new challenges which would help me grow my skills, as well as a person! In my free time, I enjoy reading, solving puzzles and exploring new activities. I have also volunteered for several initiatives, and strive to give back to the community. Looking forward to connecting with you! - Lavanya Garg

- External Head of Technology, leading a team of 7 to deliver solutions for an NPO (SiloamXperience). - Set technical strategy and owned end-to-end execution across full-stack development. - Partnered with product and design to translate requirements into clear specs, iterate on UX, and align delivery timelines. - Leading the team to build and launch a school website using WordPress. - Leading and supporting development of a full-stack volunteer and donation management system with multi-role access and operational workflows. - Working with AWS for deployment and cloud infrastructure needs. - Working closely with the NPO on requirements gathering, feedback cycles, and aligning deliverables to real operational needs.
- Selected for the Undergraduate Research Opportunities Programme (UROP) at NUS Computing, a 2-semester research program. - Conducted research under Prof. Chang Ee-Chien focused on Machine Learning Security, with focus on LLM watermarking. - Part of UROP + REx, an enhanced track offering interdisciplinary collaboration, research workshops, and opportunities to present at conferences.
- AI and Cybersecurity Research under Dr. Ming Xu at National University of Singapore - Worked on LLM Backdoors, particularly researching defenses against tokenizer-level backdoors in large language models. - I researched on formal verification defenses against tokenizer-level backdoors, creating a simple proof of concept for my research question.
- A 10-week mentorship program focused on software engineering within the industry. - Attended bi-weekly virtual workshops and talks to enhance technical skills and industry knowledge. - Built a full-stack, multi-organisation learning platform with adaptive roadmaps, progress tracking, and AI-powered module assistants to accelerate personalised skill development.
