Setting up and developing PreZero Belgium. Led the launch and strategic development of the Belgian subsidiary of PreZero, a €3.9B international group. Built and managed a high-performing team, secured national waste collection permits. Oversaw compliance, reporting, and stakeholder engagement across three regions. Drove growth through strategic partnerships and operational excellence in hazardous waste logistics.
Board mandate currently ongoing (non‑remunerated position). Van Buuren was born in Gouda, Holland, in 1886. He settled down in Brussels in 1909 and entered the banking sector. During his financial career, there were great political and economic events of the 20th century. He married the Belgian Alice Piette (1890-1973) and began a period of 30 happy years with the cultural vocation of their Art Deco house. Van Buuren sponsored several charities and cultural activities which work Alice continued till their Private Foundation in 1970, to which she be queathed her house, works of art and gardens, and which constitutes the present museum.
Responsible for the strategic P+ project to extend selective collection, sorting and recycling to all plastic packaging in order to reach the 65% recycling target for household plastic packaging. Development in Belgium by 2022 of a new generation of efficient and flexible sorting centres, from 8 to 14 sorted fractions. Development in Belgium of a true plastics recycling hub by 2023.
Contract negociation with public autorities regarding selective collection of household pakaging waste. Folow up of the legislations in the three Belgian regions.
