I am a science teacher specialising in Biology, but teaching all three sciences. I have completed a Masters in Applied Professional Studies in Education (MA APSE), focusing on equipping pupils with the literacy skills needed to interpret extended response exam questions with a focus on improving their perceptions and confidence towards the final science exams. I studied Biomedical Science at the University of Sheffield and from this gained an interest in Neuroscience, in particular neurodegenerative disease. I also completed a summer research placement at SITraN, where I worked on a TDP-43 mouse model of Motor Neurone Disease.

My responsibilities include working as a team to provide the customer with excellent service, being aware of time constraints and ensuring that tasks are completed both quickly and efficiently. I am constantly practising my communication skills both with my colleagues and with members of the public. The job involves meeting new people and adapting to their needs and deal with their concerns in situations that may be stressful. This requires the ability of being able to remain calm in these situations at the same time as being productive. Organisation is key, as a lot of tasks have to be performed in a short space of time both at the beginning of each shift and at the interval of the performance, showing that I am able to work well under pressure as part of a team, even with strict time constraints. I became a Floor Contact in 2015, a role where I lead a team of people to help maintain the efficiency of an entire floor. I organise staff breaks as well as recording any issues that may have presented themselves. I applied for this role, as I wanted to challenge myself and to gain experience in a role with more responsibility.
I completed two weeks of work experience whilst completing my GCSEs at B Braun where I demonstrated my IT Skills to complete tasks which included the completion of spreadsheets and managing stock lists on an online database. I worked with my team in order to help them with their daily workload, showing that I have the communication skills to be a valuable team member in a professional environment and contribute to the company as a whole. During my time there, I was also involved in an independent task set by one of the managers, which required me to work quickly and effectively to meet a deadline, showing that I have the organisation and ability to work under pressure. I also attended a course that spanned over two days that offered an introduction to new employees and gave me an insight into the business, including a tour of the process of drug development and the manufacture of surgical tools and more of interest to myself personally, how their products provide a benefit to their patients
