Australian/Mauritian Lauren Easton is a versatile lyric mezzo-soprano currently based in the UK. A highlight of her professional journey so far has been her relationship with Glyndebourne Festival Opera, beginning in 2011 when she made her Festival debut as Magdalena in Sir David McVicar’s new production of DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG. Further roles with Glyndebourne include Amarella THE YELLOW SOFA (Julian Phillips), Sandman HANSEL AND GRETEL, Bat / Chair L’ENFANT ET LES SORTILÈGES, Dryade ARIADNE AUF NAXOS (Katharina Thoma production), Flora LA TRAVIATA (Tom Cairns production), Spirit CENDRILLON, and Lucretia RAPE OF LUCRETIA. Other recent roles include Dalila SAMSON ET DALILA for Bury Port Opera, Lehrbuber DIE MEISTERSINGER VON NÜRNBERG at Glyndebourne, Siegrune DIE WALKURE at Grange Park Opera and most recently, Brangäne TRISTAN for the 2025 Grimeborn Opera Festival. Lauren will cover the same role for Longborough Opera Festival in their 2026 Summer Season. In the past two years, Lauren has performed as the mezzo soloist for Verdi's Requiem and Bach's St Matthew Passion at Ardingly Cathedral, Mendelssohn's St Paul Oratorio at Wakefield Cathedral and Dvorak's Stabat Mater for the Danesborough Chorus. In 2024 Lauren was awarded the Robert Presley Development prize for the Everybody Can! Operatic Voices Competition at St Paul’s Covent Garden. She has also been engaged for multiple concerts as a soloist for Songhaven in London and the Southeast. Lauren's first solo cabaret "Making This Up As I Go" debuted in the Brighton Fringe Festival in 2024 to rave reviews at the Komedia, Brighton. As a jazz vocalist, she has also travelled and performed in Dubai, Türkiye and Rome for Hendrick's Gin. In her native Australia, Ms. Easton’s performance activity included appearances with the Australian Pops Orchestra the Sydney Omega Ensemble and The Song Company, Australia’s premier six-voice a cappella ensemble. A formidable prize-winner and scholarship recipient, she was able to continue her studies at the prestigious Wales International Academy of Voice in Cardiff, under the guidance of renowned Welsh tenor Dennis O’Neill. During her period of study in Cardiff, Ms. Easton completed two seasons at Glyndebourne, and as a concert artist her appearances included performing as the mezzo-soprano soloist for Beethoven’s Ninth Symphony at the 2010 World Expo in Shanghai, China. Lauren gives her thanks to the Sony Foundation, Australian International Opera Awards, The Marten Bequest, Australian Music Foundation, and Help Musicians UK for their support.
As a voice teacher I instructed students in person and online as part of her private studio and has also held positions as a peripatetic at prestigious schools such as the MacDonald College (AUS) and the Joan Sutherland Centre for the Performing Arts (AUS). Past students have seen success in accessing scholarships (the Andrew Lloyd Webber Scholarship, Lasalle College of the Arts Full Tuition Scholarships, Welsh College of Music and Drama bursaries), further music education placements (Lasalle, WCMD, Trinity Laban, University of Greenwich, BIMM, Northbrook), roles on professional stages (Beetlejuice, 9To5, Witches if Eastwick, We Will Rock You, Heathers, Universal Studios Singapore, Nickelodeon), and pursued work in corporate performances and recording studios. For my private studio in Brighton, I have also produced multiple concerts, recitals, masterclasses and musical theatre productions for my students. I have programmed repertoire, produced venues and accompanying instrumentalist, directed and choreographed, provided wardrobe, and produced all promotional and ticketing services. Many of our concerts have successfully provided ticket profit donations to local charitable organisations. All performances are optional and tailored to suit the students in their individual progress journeys.
