My knowledge can help people and organizations become stronger. I find relevant resources, create information tools, organize information, develop information as an asset and, teach best practices in information seeking. Information Work • Oversaw and participated in all aspects of campus library operations for a small private academic library, including management of the writing center, circulation, inter-library loan, collection development, trouble-shooting minor IT issues, and reference queries through phone, instant messaging, e-mail and text message. • Provide library instruction to classes in Health and Information Technology, Medical Assisting, Medical Coding and Billing, Information Technology, Veterinary Technology, Communications, Paralegal Studies and Business Administration. • Taught Humanities through a framework that was both social and historical in its emphasis; presented literature, philosophy, religion, music, sculpture, architecture and painting in a way that exposed students to major concepts that influenced historical periods. • Conducted weekly discussion sections on various topics in History and Western Civilization, including organization of panels on specific historical topics; presented formal lectures in medieval history; graded midterm and final exams and weekly assignments; provided detailed information about, and analysis of, various historical events; held intensive review sessions regarding exam material; held office hours for student consultation.
As a Docent/Volunteer for the Fairview Museum of History & Art, I teach visitors about the art and history (both natural and personal) of Fairview and the surrounding area. I assist with research, give tours, provide gift shop assistance, organize and update the history library and answer questions.
Since August of 2020, I have been involved in the care of my family member, who has a long-term degenerative disease. I help to schedule medication, oversee exercise and meal planning/preparation, and follow up with doctors. The patient is stable now, has more of the help he needs, and I am ready to return to work. August 2020-Present.
I have over 15 years experience in information work and many more as a writing tutor, editor, proofreader and all-around word-smith. I am adept at teaching patrons, employees and customers in the use of multiple databases, integrated library systems and web-based educational learning tools. Access to all types of resources, including digital and electronic materials, is important in providing target audiences with the informational support they need, and I am dedicated to providing access to--and enhancing--services for all patrons, employees and clients. I believe in continually improving services, demonstrating value to the surrounding community and providing excellent leadership in my realm of responsibility. Communities, whether public, academic or professional, are the keepers of our heritage. As librarians and Information Resource Professionals, we must strive to foster the talents, curiosity and interests of our community members. I love working with the community and helping them to develop, learn and meet their goals.
As the Outreach and Instruction Librarian at Snow College’s Huntsman Library, many of my duties remained the same as in my previous position as the Public Services Librarian. I continued to provide information literacy instruction and reference services (through text, chat, email, consultation and traditional reference interviews). I moved forward in developing relationships with faculty to understand their information needs and those of their students. I strove to provide, coordinate and expand information literacy instruction for students and faculty via in-person sessions, online research tutorials and our learning management system. I also produced online research guides for our campus community. Moreover, I oversaw and developed marketing for the library collection, as well as advertised and synchronized campus events sponsored by the library. I continually practiced and promoted outreach activities to our students and faculty, while continuing to keep abreast of national developments and trends in library services. I also continued to oversee social media for the Huntsman Library, as well as participate on Snow College’s Welcome & Events Committee and General Education Committee.

I also provided and coordinated instruction for students and faculty in research skills, both formally and informally, including through in-person sessions as well as via Canvas, our learning management system. I also created online research guides for our campus community. Furthermore, I created displays for new additions to the library collection and marketed and coordinated campus events sponsored by the library. I continually practiced and promote outreach activities to our students and faculty, while I also maintained knowledge of national developments and trends in library services and oversaw social media for the library, as well as participated on campus and state (ULA) committees focused on resource sharing, general education issues, student employment and events and onboarding for new staff.
