About

Laura is a horticulturalist and garden designer based in York and North Yorkshire. With expertise in both horticulture and design, she specialises in creating gardens where plants and wildlife are central to her design philosophy. Before moving into horticulture, Laura graduated with a degree in History and Archaeology and worked within the heritage industry, hospitality and education. Her love of plants, wildlife and the outdoors eventually led her to retrain, completing the RHS Level 2 Certificate in Practical Horticulture and the RHS Level 2 Certificate in the Principles of Plant Growth and Development. She went on to gain extensive experience across a wide range of horticultural settings, including working in a plant nursery, running her own gardening business, tending to a large private estate, and volunteering in a National Trust garden. These roles gave her a strong foundation in practical horticulture and a deep appreciation for how plants behave in real gardens, knowledge that now underpins every design she creates. In July 2025, Laura graduated with Distinction from the prestigious London College of Garden Design at Kew Gardens. Her final project was shortlisted for the Judges’ Prize, awarded by Harris Bugg Studio, recognising her creative approach, attention to detail, and potential as an emerging garden designer.
