35 years of foundation and non-profit management experience focused on improving the well being of vulnerable children and families, particularly in the US and Africa Specialties: Foundation and non-profit strategy, non-profit management, board development, fundraising, advocacy, communications, and alliance building; child development; community development; children affected by HIV/AIDS; education for all; homelessness; refugees. Adept at coalition building. My PhD thesis was on community schools in Mali, based on work I led while I was at Save the Children, that helped get 45,000 children into school and raised the number of primary schools in Mali by 40%.
The Hilton Foundation works to improve the lives of disadvantaged and vulnerable people throughout the world. Domestically, the Foundation funds homelessness, foster youth, youth workforce development, and early childhood. Internationally, we fund organizations working on water, early childhood, and we are developing a program on refugee children and youth. We also fund the work of congregations of Catholic Sisters globally, with a focus on the US and Africa.
