I am receptive to new ideas and values finding better ways of doing things.
As the leader of an innovative energy start-up, I am at the forefront of commercializing osmotic energy technology. Our groundbreaking achievement includes developing and building the world’s first 100 kW industrial energy plant, harnessing energy from salt—a feat that has been pursued for over 50 years. This milestone marks a new chapter in the history of renewable energy. Experience: • Pioneering Osmotic Energy: Spearheaded the development of a first-of-its-kind 100 kW industrial energy plant, revolutionizing energy production from salt. • Innovative Leadership: Established a dynamic learning organization encompassing sales and marketing, finance, R&D, process design, engineering, and external services to drive growth and innovation. • Securing Funding: Successfully obtained grants for projects totaling approximately €11 million from the EU Horizon 2020 EIC Accelerator Programme and Innovation Fund Denmark. • Advancing R&D: Set up two large-scale membrane testing facilities to propel research and development efforts. • Promoting Renewable Energy: Co-founded the OE4EU association to advocate for osmotic energy as a renewable energy source in the EU, achieving recognition as green energy in the 2024 RED III directive. • Protecting Intellectual Property: Filed ten patent applications to safeguard in-house innovations. • Ready to Scale: Developed a robust sales pipeline in the salt manufacturing Industry
Key Goal: Transitioned a portfolio of renewable technology projects from pre-commercial to commercial phase. Responsibilities: Managed technology projects and assets, including bio-based chemicals from sugar, P2X (e-methanol), SOEC electrolysis, biogas purification, landfill gas utilization, catalytic oxidation, and biomass gas generation. Most projects were first-of-their-kind. Achievements: • Organized project direction with clear tasks, success criteria, and bilateral agreements, leading to timely and cost-effective project execution of the scale-up projects • Secured over €13 million for a demonstration project to scale up the MOSAIK™ technology for converting sugars to chemicals. • Represented Topsøe in public affairs, including as Vice Chairman of Dansk Miljøteknologi, focusing on bio-based refining and clean air technologies. Active member of the Bio-Based Industry Consortium (BIC) in the EU, promoting a circular bio-based economy. • Contributed to the development of “Luftvisionen” with the Danish Environment Agency and participated in governmental work on a biopolymer strategy for the Danish Ministry of Environment and Food.
Key Goal: Increase sales, develop expansion strategy, and enhance profitability. Responsibilities: Managed environmental catalysts and technologies for NOx removal across various markets, including power, automotive heavy-duty and off-road, marine, and refinery. Oversaw revenue and EBIT with sales departments in the US, Denmark, China, and sales managers in Brazil, Russia, and India. Led a team of 6 direct reports and 66 employees. Accomplishments: • Segmented the stationary DeNOx market into gas turbines, marine, refineries, and coal, leading to targeted marketing efforts. • Achieved a 160% increase in total revenue from 2011 to 2015, reaching over €100 million in 2015 and 2016. • Increased EBIT by €11 million from 2013 to 2015 in the stationary DeNOx market by boosting productivity by over 20%, increasing sales, and reducing R&D costs. • Expanded automotive business revenue from €12 million in 2011 to €36 million in 2016, including commissioning new plants in China and Brazil. • Formed business partnerships with FLSmidth and Unifrax, introducing innovative catalytic filters Cataflex and Topfrax to the market. • Drove change in global sales departments through structured follow-ups, coaching, and the CEB Challenger sales approach.
