Dynamic, results-driven manager. Management is a mindset you live and breathe. It defines your character and the way you approach choices, for the individual or for the team, always pro-active not reactive. As a team player, success at any career requires a passion and devotion to do it well. I always look at any job or task as if there is only one opportunity to perform it. Taking ownership is critical to my inner manager, not just doing a job but doing it best.
Second only to the owner, I assisted in full operational control of a multi-million dollar residential construction business. My oversight included: Managed 3 project supervisors and crews performing the detail finish work on our projects to completion. Handled all pre-construction RFP’s including evaluating specifications, generating take-offs, setting project parameters for the purpose of preliminary bids for new projects. Resourced and approved all sub contractors including accepting job quality and review of work product for release of payment. Interfaced with all clients to computer design their kitchen and bath projects and acted as liaison during the build-out of project. Planned material lists from take-offs, and procured materials for projects and set arrival schedules. Issued change orders requested by client and tracked each to payment completion. Collaborated with city development for permitting and all inspection protocols. Aided A/R and A/P in the review of all job billing, tracking and collection of payments. Key Achievements Supervised 22 projects at busiest including (3) new 1 million plus constructions and (5) 90% rebuilds and a balance of numerous kitchen and bath projects. Managed crews for the 50th annual Exclusive Pasadena Design Showcase Project 2014 for the LA Benefit of the Arts. We reconstructed the critical kitchen and dining room portion of the project housed in a 100 year old estate. Involved removal of seven separate rooms from the existing structure including numerous and ceilings and installing support foundation columns and beam reinforcements to the two story structure, retrofitting the area into a single 2500 sq ft chef’s kitchen.
I was the owner’s assistant. As the Director of Construction I handled the supervision of all on-site production of commercial and residential interior remodel and design. Interfaced directly with clients performing a job pre-construction walk and the follow-up bid and sales meetings. Supervised a crew of up to 9 during our busiest including hiring, evaluation and termination. Developed internal quotes and resourced bids, selected awards of job contracts and evaluated work for payment approval. Generated all documentation including design revision requests, change orders for billing and tracking of payments. Expedited all exposure to the city including initial plan review, permitting and on-site plan checks. During 2008 I accepted a limited role with the company and worked for Costco till business returned. Key Achievements Operated multiple projects at a time ranging from $12k to $450k One of our larger projects enveloped an entire image package and retrofit of a business serving the U.S. military as a government contractor. The scope of the work included design and construction of a high tech lobby and conference room, production bullpen, 8 individual offices including the business Presidents and VP Offices and 13 new restroom facilities
I was directly hired to manage the wireless department in the #1 Costco location in the United States, part of a $340 million dollar operation in Marina Del Rey. I accepted this job as a bridge gap while still employed with Engineered Design due to a slow down in the construction industry Generated a documented sales increase of 57% over the prior year’s performance. Substantially decreased client issues through communication and training staff to increase member satisfaction over the past year. Vastly improved department efficiency by developing a team strategy to address organizational efficiency within the department. Key Achievements Attained #2 in personal sales nationally in one metric and I was #22 in documented sales overall nationally out of over 1500+ employees company wide upon my departure Some of my staff I am honored to say are still at the location more than 5 years after my departure
I was promoted internally to Director of Operations for a 2 million dollar 10 year old hospitality business. I assumed rapid responsibility after a theft embezzlement issue. The owners operated numerous businesses and therefore showed up approximately once a month to meet, review and evaluate the business performance so they were basically hands off. Total P&L control including the operation budget, generating internal quarterly financial reports and all cash and banking. Had unrestricted decision power regarding operations including all internal systems, procedures and purchasing all inventory Management of all security and staffing needs. Managed three shift managers and 55 employees. Handled all promotion, advertising and marketing A transfer of ownership created additional responsibilities. I took over responsibility of three multi-million dollar hospitality establishments supervising 135 plus including 9 managers. Key Achievements Assigned the complete re-design and construction of one of the three locations as well as additional improvements to the other two. The project encompassed a ¾ million dollar complete renovation included interfacing with city officials for compliance.
