Larry A. Callahan has expertise in all aspects of progressive human resources, talent management, development and engagement and has spent the past 25 years at the executive leadership level. He is data and results driven, partners with leadership on goal development and measurement. He excels strategic planning and operational implementation across total rewards plan development and administration, market-based compensation, labor negotiations, employee relations, employee and physician engagement, transforming culture, organizational development, driving operational improvements, and implementing ERP systems, including, Oracle, PeopleSoft and Workday. He has successfully led talent acquisition, engagement and retention, reduced voluntary turnover, improved healthcare quality measures and patient outcomes, led leadership development institutes and implemented multiple reward and recognition systems. He has led and implemented Just Culture, Targeted Selection, Quarterly Goal Reviews, on-line reward and recognition systems, customer service training, 90-day new teammate feedback sessions, the development and administration of executive compensation and benefit programs, including 457(b) and 457(f) plans. He led a team in the transition of $300 million in assets to a single-record keeper for his current employer. His prior experience includes leadership roles in healthcare, financial services, high technology, manufacturing, professional services, global leadership and higher education. During his professional and executive career, Callahan has served in multiple CHRO and Vice President, Human Resources roles across industry, higher education, not for profit healthcare system and spent 23 years with the international "Built to Last" global giant Siemens, AG. Callahan has successfully led mergers, acquisitions, business restructurings and partners well with "C" level executives in the development and implementation of organization wide initiatives. He served on the Advisory Council of TIAA and the Workforce Investment Council for the city of Washington, DC. Callahan has led multiple organizations to public recognition by the following providers, OC Tanner for reward & recognition, The Studer Group for healthcare improvements, Press Ganey for What's Right in Healthcare and most recently, the Plan Sponsor Council of America, Pensions and Investments and Plan Sponsor of the year for 2021. Lead the following system HR functions for more than 33,000 employee organization, including HR Executives, HR Business Partners, Employee Relations and HR Service Center. Report to System CHRO and serve as a member of the HR leadership team, as well as other teams that lead the various hospitals and clinical operations functions and teams. Currently, co-leading the development and implementation of a new workforce planning function for the system. Partnering with other HR and operational leaders on defining a new People Strategy and Teammate Value Proposition.
* Served as a member of the senior executive Cabinet, reporting to the President of Howard University and Howard University Hospital, engaged in the strategic implementation of Howard Forward, organizational development, succession and operational planning. * Lead all HR initiatives and functions, including workforce planning, talent acquisition, executive talent development, HRIS, total rewards, retirement administration, EEO, labor and employee relations, customer service training and improvement, HR and organizational communication, continuous improvement, and complex HR and business projects. * Led the selection of a single recordkeeper for Howard's 403(b) and 457(b) savings plans and successfully transitioned $800 million in assets to TIAA from five (5) different vendors. Received three 1st Place National Awards, all in the large employer category, including a 2020 Signature Award from Defined Contribution Insights Magazine, an Eddy Award from Pension & Investments and Plan Sponsor of the Year for 2021. In addition, implemented Workday ERP for HR and Finance. Increased minimum wage to $16.83 per hour, maintained all employee benefits during the pandemic with no layoffs, furloughs or reductions of salary.
* Served as a member of the executive leadership team reporting to the Senior Vice President and General Manager of the Americas Region of this global financial services company. * Led the HR team for North America and was responsible for talent acquistion, talent reviews, working collaboratively with both regional and global leaders in customer services, sales, retail, software, professional services, manufacturing, product development and engineering.
