University of Nevada, Reno
I am an undergraduate pre-medical student majoring in neuroscience at the University of Nevada, Reno. As a member of the Honors College, I am committed to academic excellence and continued personal and professional growth. My goal is to attend medical school and become a physician, with current interests in emergency medicine, neuroscience research, and improving access to healthcare for underserved communities. My academic background includes Advanced Placement coursework and dual enrollment through Truckee Meadows Community College, which has allowed me to establish a strong academic foundation. As I continue my undergraduate education, I am interested in research that explores neurological disorders, cognitive decline, and the biological mechanisms underlying neurological disease. Ultimately, I plan to contribute to scientific research while strengthening my understanding of its application to patient care. Alongside my education, I work as a medical scribe across Renown Health's emergency departments, where I collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals in a fast-paced clinical environment. This experience has provided valuable insight into clinical decision-making, interdisciplinary teamwork, and the challenges patients face when accessing healthcare. It has also strengthened my interest in emergency medicine and reinforced my belief in the importance of preventive care, patient education, and connecting individuals with resources that support their long-term health. Beyond academics and clinical experience, I value leadership, mentorship, and community service. As a former JROTC Battalion Commander, I developed an appreciation for collaborative leadership, accountability, and selfless service to others. My continued involvement in volunteer initiatives supporting veterans, along with mentoring and coaching opportunities, has reinforced the importance of empathy and creating meaningful connections within my community. As I work toward a career in medicine, I plan to carry these values into my future practice as a physician. I am committed to continuing my growth though clinical experience, research, leadership, and service, with the ultimate goal of improving the lives of others and contributing to a more accessible and equitable healthcare system.
