Director of Applications Development at U.S. House of Representatives

About

I'm a very proud and dedicated Congressional Information Technology staffer helping support the institution from my little corner of the U.S. House of Representatives. My current title is Director of Applications Development for the Office of the Clerk and since my very first day on the job in 2001 I've kept the same goals and principle's to always put the Institution first and do whatever I can to make technical improvements along the way. In my early days at the U.S. House of Representatives that meant helping write an XML Legislative Drafting tool, later it was (and still is) leading Disclosure/Transparency development efforts, and now it is architecting and managing systems, while also guiding and nudging along planning efforts. Currently, I'm most excited about becoming more Agile in our day to day development activities, and I'm equally enthusiastic about leading a data modernization effort that also includes building APIs and microservices. Here is a current list of active systems I've helped develop, manage and/or support: -XML Legislative Drafting, -Disclosures/Transparency (Lobbying, Lobbying Contributions, Financial, Travel, and Post Employment), -Committee Repository and Bills this Week (Docs.house.gov), -Numerous Clerk websites (ex. Clerkpreview.house.gov and live.house.gov), -Clerk House API, -Bioguide (currently being redesigned) -Telephone Directory (Directory.House.Gov and supporting administrative applications), -and a number of other internal web applications and systems If you want to learn more about these efforts or other initiatives, please feel free to reach out.
