More than 15 years of experience within a leading Belgian university have made me a punctual, reliable self-starter with a keen eye for detail and an open mind. I teach and develop material for specialized courses that are tailored to undergraduate students (in law, criminology, and economics), Advanced Master's students in Mulitilingual Business Communication, doctoral students, as well as academic staff. My areas of expertise include the following: o academic English (e.g. Advanced Academic English: Writing Skills, Conference Skills, Academic Posters, Slide Design) o business English (with a special focus on presentation skills, meeting and negotiation skills; with topics including recruitment & selection, intercultural communication, industrial & organizational psychology, and social media marketing & innovative marketing strategies) o legal English o practical English o Swedish for beginners o Dutch for non-native speakers For more than 10 years, I also translated, edited and proofread a wide variety of specialized, formal texts (e.g. internal communication at Ghent University, examination codes, regulations, academic papers, research proposals, progress reports, contracts, tenders).
I offered a wide range of services, ranging from proofreading to copywriting and translating. Some examples: - Private language tutoring: I tutored clients in English, Swedish and Dutch and created tailor-made teaching material. For example, I helped people prepare for a new academic assignment or fine-tuned clients' pronunciation skills right before their doctoral defence. - Expert training in a wide range of business skills, such as presentation, meeting & negotiation skills or job interview & CV coaching. - Academic language coaching: editing Master's/doctoral dissertations, teaching academic writing/reading skills, conference skills, posters, slide design, etc. - Translating technical/legal texts, PowerPoint presentations, or copywriting for corporate websites. I have worked with a wide range of clients from different industries (e.g. Ghent University College, the Belgian Nuclear Research Centre, ING, Erasmus University College Brussels, Linguapolis). I taught advanced writing courses to Master students at the University of Luxembourg (campus Belval). I was also involved in the 2017 and 2018 International Summer School (https://uliss.uni.lu/) and taught a course in Advanced English to a group of international MA students.
I taught a course in Public Communication (i.e. press releases, press conferences, social media strategies) to Master students of Multilingual Communication at the Department of Translation, Interpreting and Communication.
I taught an intensive 30-hour course in academic English (reading, writing and speaking).
