Software Engineer Intern on the Query Execution Team
Instructed students in person and virtually from ages of 5 to 19 in various subjects including Math, Physics, Chemistry, Statistics, Reading, and Writing; SAT and AP test preparation; designed assignments and lesson plans.
Teaching Assistant for Mathematical Foundations of Computer Science, an introductory course with over 200 students enrolled. Leading recitation sessions for undergraduates outside of lecture, holding office hours to help students with concepts one-on-one, preparing homework problems, grading.
Tutored students at the University of Pennsylvania (undergraduate and graduate) working on academic and personal writing projects in hour-long virtual appointments, returning Fall 2021.
Enhanced existing method of data analysis to include capability to search for a different supersymmetry signature; implemented the search in Python and Root on generated data using various data analysis packages. Created visualizations and presented results to the Penn ATLAS Group and ATLAS SUPER program managers. Secured funding for most of my summer research through the application-only US ATLAS SUPER program
Worked with MongoDB’s Atlas Data Lake Team on production code, learning the code base to the level of identifying and fixing bugs within an 11-week internship. Self-directed ticket choice to focus on query optimization within the Data Lake query engine. Piloted a new format for introducing arguments into Data Lake file path specification, allowing users to optimize queries on ISODate fields resulting in major reductions in query execution time.
