I have worked in IT management for over twenty years - in industry, R&D and operations. In my current role, I am a senior program manager for the most enthusiastic and dynamic company I have ever known. Guidewire are the accepted global leader in software development for the insurance industry for property and casualty. They are leading and working in an industry undergoing huge business changes and benefiting from new technologies. My qualifications include an MBA and a PMP certification.
Managing agile projects globally for all of Guidewire's product extension development. This includes region- and market-specific development efforts. This involves working with all stakeholders including internal customers, product managers, development managers, business owners, development teams on all of the aspects of each project to ensure on-time delivery to the client. This involves managing 10 teams across Ireland, France, Germany, Poland and Japan, to ensure 1. All teams are on schedule. 2. All teams have detailed plans for the next 3 months. 3. All teams are Identifying, mitigating and resolving all possible risks and dependencies. 4. All teams have the right processes and are doing the right things to meet the current goals. 5. All teams are evolving to meet changing and future goals. The role also involves protecting and promoting the team to the global GW organization.
Helping CGM create their Irish operations.
Managed nearForm’s client engagement projects. This included Agile project management (including SCRUM), engagement management, and upselling. I also advised on the company’s organisation, which included identifying and implementing structures and processes for a company doubling in size in less than 12 months. Accomplishments: • Implemented new internal processes for communications, hiring, culture, motivation and the org structure. • Managed growth of projects, both in number – from 7 to 10 clients – but more in size – requiring a growth from 26 to 60 employees in 1 year. • The individual projects varied from 2 to 7 team members and together totaled ~€5m yearly. • All projects were delivered on time and on budget, unless requests for changes to scope or timelines were made by the client.
Areas of Research: Telecoms Billing, Energy Management, Network Management. This included: R&D Project Management, Obtaining funding for R&D projects, Commercializing R&D Systems. Accomplishments: • Obtained over €2.8m funding for the TSSG from competitive sources. • Project Managed many R&D projects using agile processes. All projects were brought to successful completion. • Successfully managed international projects to completion such as B4R (funded through the e-TEN scheme) which had a total cost of €1.7m and involved 7 consortium partners from across Europe, where I was the overall manager. I also managed one part of the EFIPSANS project (funded through the EU FP scheme) which constituted 883 person months and was funded for €6.78m. • Successfully delivered all projects on time and I was brought in to consult on another project which had failed its interim review. • Commercialized R&D projects either to IP license or, in one case where sufficient potential was established, I created a new start-up company.
Managed the billing production system at Nextel (now Sprint) for 17m customers with a focus on speed and accuracy. Managed three teams – 18 people in total - to correct any inaccuracies. There were 24 billing cycles per month that invoiced over $1bn per month and any delays to a billing cycle cost around $60,000 per day. Accomplishments: • Managed the reduction in the time to create/audit/mail invoices from 4 to 2 days. • Increased invoice accuracy from 96.2% to 99.6% by number of invoices sent. • Increased invoice accuracy from 99.98% to 99.99% by revenue.
Managed new releases of Nextel’s Customer Care and Billing System and coordinating other teams such as hardware, software, production support, downstream databases, code migration and reference tables to production, security profiles, etc. Accomplishments: • Successfully planned and implemented seven releases of Nextel’s entire billing and customer care system. All went live on-time and without errors.
Managed 18 testers to ensure new billing system met the functional requirements. Accomplishments: • Successfully managed testing of the new billing system, which went live on time.
