AAHPM represents approximately 5,000 physicians and interprofessional clinicians across all care settings. Provide fiduciary oversight and strategic direction for the organization's four-goal strategic plan: advancing the field of hospice and palliative care, supporting workforce development, building an engaged interprofessional community, and ensuring long-term organizational sustainability. Governance responsibilities include strategic planning, financial oversight, policy and advocacy priorities, and membership model innovation. Bring nearly two decades of organized medicine governance experience spanning state and national levels, with particular depth in health policy, advocacy operations, and association governance design.
Advisory and oversight committee of the Board of Directors of AAHPM which coordinates the external public policy efforts of the organization.
Inaugural AMA-YPS delegate from the AAHPM representing the position of the Academy to the AMA. I also participate in the strategy and coverage of the larger AAHPM delegation to the AMA House of Delegates. Our tasks include: ● Weigh in and advise on emerging concepts generated by staff, to enhance the program ● Review ambassador program scholarship applications for AMA conferences, and select recipients in partnership with AMA staff ● Review and approve ambassador program applications, according to program guidelines ● Work closely with AMA ambassador program staff to welcome and assist in onboarding new ambassadors ● In cooperation with staff, lead, organize (and attend) the annual Ambassador Retreat ● Identify areas of interest and select faculty for ambassador educational trainings ● Oversee the development of new programming for ambassadors (such as mentorship opportunities, a welcome committee/buddy program for new members, etc.) ● Enthusiastically encourage ambassadors to share AMA work and updates in-person and on social media ● Identify opportunities for ambassadors that would improve their experience in the program and AMA membership as a whole ● Identify additional incentives and rewards for ambassadors who demonstrate quality and dedicated ambassadorship
