Investigated thermal sprayed coatings for protecting carbon and low alloy steels from hydrogen-induced cracking in sour environments, in collaboration with Shell Energy & Chemicals Park. Investigated thermal spraying techniques; cold spray, hvaf, hvof etc. Used specialized spraying techniques in Aachen and conducted corrosion and mechanical tests at TU Delft. Thesis awarded an 8.5/10.
Investigated non-destructive testing methods for detecting under-film corrosion on Vopak’s solar-equipped storage tanks. Standard methods failed, so I explored new techniques, validating the most promising ones at TU Delft and Vopak HQ. The project was awarded an 8.5/10 by Vopak and TU Delft.
Designed a product attachment for a power tool company Design was chosen from 30 other students for patent research Awarded by the University with an 8.5/10.
Selected for a multidisciplinary minor in South Africa, I managed a project to design and build a 3m³ biodigester for the Siyakhana Garden. The system produced biogas and fertilizer, reducing LPG costs and improving the farm’s self-sufficiency.
