• 20 years of experience in research and development in medical implant design, telemetry, micro electro-mechanical structures (MEMS), analog and radio circuits, advanced packaging for medical implants and integrated circuits, and in business development and commercialization of advanced technologies. • Trained as an Electronic and Biomedical Engineer at the University of Leuven, Belgium. • Ph.D. research on instrumenting orthopedic implants with sensors and telemetry, and on the optimization of the inductive link that powers the implant circuitry. • Worked 8 years as a member of the Research Staff at the Palo Alto Research Center in Palo Alto, California USA. • Authored and co-authored 80 papers and book chapters, and 28 issued Patents. • Recipient of the Outstanding Paper Award at the 2003 International Solid-State Circuits Conference (ISSCC), session on Embedded Technologies.
