Responsible for industry-leading national and international strategic investments and collaborations in innovative technologies and services, including, for example, in pharmaceuticals, advanced imaging, rehabilitation, orthopedic implants, and AI in robotic surgery. Architect of the corporate transactions and relationships underlying much of the regional and multistate growth and expansion of HSS, including unique collaborations with academic and health system partners. Lead in-house development, syndication, licensure and governance of ambulatory surgery centers in NY, NJ, and FL. Chief Legal Officer of the Robert Wood Johnson Health System, including its flagship hospitals, Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital and Children’s Specialized Hospital. Appointed Deputy General Counsel for RWJBarnabas Health upon the corporate combination with Barnabas Health. Reorganized competing legal departments residing in the corporate offices and five original hospitals into a single, cohesive, highly effective legal team, and guided, supported and reinvigorated the system's Corporate Compliance Department and programs. Sealed a reimagined relationship with the Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School; managed challenges related to the governmental reorganization of the medical school and the development of Rutgers Health. Oversaw resolution of real estate tax exemption matters, including for the system's main campus. Responsible for the merger of RWJ and Barnabas Health. Partnered with the Chairman of the Board and CEO of RWJ in the analysis of the potential merger partners; structured the merger transaction and led the merger negotiations; oversaw resolution of corporate, legal and financial matters, including FTC Hart-Scott-Rodino pre-merger review, Attorney General approval under the New Jersey Community Health Care Assets Protection Act and approvals under the Master Trust Indentures. Oversaw education of the responsible Boards of Trustees and guided their decision-making efforts and approvals. Oversaw post-merger legal matters and the combining of the legal teams from RWJ and Barnabas Health.
