I am a research and policy professional with 16 years experience in designing, managing and conducting projects with diverse stakeholders in education and industry sectors. I have worked as a social researcher, educator and program evaluator in the field of Education since 2014. I have used qualitative, quantitative, mixed, evaluation and creative methods to explore people's practices since 2004. I have worked with people from all walks of life - from C-level executives to children - to explore innovative and/or ethical ways to effect social change. My career work to-date has been pragmatic and applied, informing the development of new strategies, policies, programs, practices, business processes, technologies, services, and products. I have delivered evidence-informed insights to senior executives in industry, government and academia, and the media. A central thread in the work I have done is my commitment to diversity and inclusion. The research projects I've designed and contributed to have encompassed early childhood and school education, community health, gender and diversity in STEM education, sustainable workplace, and disability services. As an educator, I have over five years teaching and research supervision experience in the university sector. I have also worked as a tutor with indigenous university students and taught English as a second language to new migrants for The Smith Family. I continue to volunteer in education settings wherever I can, most recently in committee preschool management. Strategic Policy work in the area of Early Childhood education and schools. Included a 9 month secondment to Grattan Institute.
I was an evaluation team-member for CSIRO's Indigenous STEM (science, technology, engineering, mathematics) Education project. I am involved in the program monitoring and evaluation implementation across this complex, national, multi-stakeholder project. The aim of the project is to inspire Indigenous students through STEM education to increase their participation in STEM careers.
As a research academic in the College of Education, I worked across the college to increase the research outputs of the college. This included research development and work across a range of projects spanning early childhood to tertiary education. In this role, I: identified grant opportunities and developed applications; collaborated with staff across all stages of the research cycle; designed and delivered staff development workshops; supported research management processes, such as ERA submissions.
In my role as a Manager in KPMG’s IT Advisory group, I assisted organisations with understanding emerging technologies and their impacts on business, work and industries. My primary role was to explore emerging trends impacting on large enterprises and develop engaging thought leadership reports. The reports focused on new insights from early adopters and industry experts to assist organisations on their own journey with business, product and service innovation. To do this I designed, executed and managed events and projects from inception to delivery to C-level executives in industry. Methods used to conduct research and engage clients included: interviews, focus groups, surveys, ideation workshops, facilitated group discussions, seminars, and desktop research.
