Royal Far West is Australia’s only national charity dedicated to improving the health and wellbeing of our nation’s rural and remote children by supporting and advocating for country kids, families and communities. Where you live should not be a barrier to services nor a cause for disadvantage, yet 190,000 children in rural and remote Australia have health and development needs that are not being met. We support children’s developmental, mental and behavioural health; including anxiety and depression, autism spectrum disorders, complex trauma, intellectual disability, speech and language disorders; to help kids reach their full potential. Culturally sensitive and community-focused, we help ‘the system’ go further by addressing service gaps. Based on the beachfront in Manly, NSW, we use our Centre for Country Kids and our unique multidisciplinary team, together with technology, innovation and outreach, to optimise our impact for country kids up to the age of 12. We build the capacity of country families, health professionals, educators and communities to support children in need. We partner with preschools, schools and other providers to improve access to services and improve outcomes for country kids and we harness our knowledge, expertise and relationships to give a voice to the needs of country children and to advocate for equitable access to services and outcomes. From our beginnings in 1924, we have strived to ensure that every country child has access to the services they need to support their early development and enrich their lives. Last year we supported 12,046 children, families and educators. www.royalfarwest.org.au
