As project engineer in the team Ports & Water, I share responsibility for the design of mechanical equipment, control and automation of infrastructures in ports and waterways, such as locks, movable bridges and pumping stations. In these projects, safety is one of the important parts, both the controlling of the compliance of the design with the Machinery Directive as the safety objectives specific to each project. I've developed a specific experience in the field of machine safety and the principles of risk assessment and risk reduction. I've built this experience both through training, NEN 6787 - Safety of movable bridges and locks (D&F Group) and by experience in projects. Among others by performing risk analyses for a fully automated inspection system of movable bridges and locks, including determining the methodology to be followed in accordance with prescribed standards (risk matrices, classification into risk groups and risk areas, etc.). A further build on this experience by risk assessments of the possibility of remote control of movable bridges, locks and water-using works, and the design of a standard template for conducting risk assessments.
