Jewelry design is a creative passion of mine as I have always been fascinated by sparkly things, rocks in all shapes and sizes, and the rainbow of colorful gemstones that come from the earth's soil. As a child, my adventures involved collecting little treasures I could easily carry in my pocket or tuck away in any kind of miniature container I could find around my home in amongst my toys. I transferred that childhood fascination of hunting for miniature rocks, stones and sparkly things, to what is now my collection of semi-precious stones, pearls, crystals, and a plethora of colorful beads in all sorts of sizes, Sterling silver is my precious metal of choice, but I also like to enhance my pieces by incorporating other metals such as copper, brass and gold into my work. My recent class attendance in the Fundamentals of Metalsmithing course taken through the Oregon College of Arts and Crafts, has not only increased my appetite for creating and designing more jewelry, but has also opened up a world of other possibilities by utilizing techniques such as sawing, piercing, soldering, and texturing metal. Whether its pearls, stones, crystals or metal, using any of these elements to create body adornment, only enhances one's individuality and often tells a story all its own! Beauty is in the eye of the beholder; wear it well.
