I am interested in sustainable fisheries, integrated aquaculture systems using renewable energy and life cycle analysis of seafood products and production systems. I am particularly interested in food security and seafood production and consumption in eastern and Horn of African countries. Recently, I completed a study of illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing in the territorial waters of Somalia for Adeso, a humanitarian and development organization, based in Nairobi, Kenya, The study was conducted jointly with the Coastal Resources Center (CRC) of the University of Rhode Island. The report of the study is attached. The report of a study that I conducted in 2007 on the impact of offshore wind generation on marine fisheries in Rhode Island is also attached.
ECOLOGICAL AQUACULTURE, LLC is an international research, development and consulting company organized to advance the applied sciences and development in ecological and restorative aquaculture and agriculture systems that are socially and environmentally inclusive and just. We work at the nexus of social and climate changes in aquatic food systems and their integrations with terrestrial food systems, renewable energies, soil and water conservation, environmental conservation, protection, and restoration.

Trans-Africa Consultancy Services (TACS) is a consulting firm specializing in sustainable fisheries, integrated aquaculture, water engineering, technology solutions and development based in Barrington, Rhode Island. It is formed by two experienced professional partners to work with local communities and interested national and international developmental agencies to improve sustainable management of seafood production and water management, as well as, food security for low income populations in Africa.
