Jack is a retired member of the National Executive Council, and former President of the Education Sector Committee of Ireland's leading trade union SIPTU. He has experience of advocacy, representation and facilitation of members at local level as well as at the various IR foras including the EAT, Rights Commissioner Service, Labour Relations Committee and Labour Court.Specialties: Union negotiation, policy analysis and drafter of policy initiatives, experienced chair with background training and education in dispute and conflict resolution. Jack was also involved in an international context with kindred educational trade unions in the UK (Unison) and Denmark (HKStat) in a project titled European Universities Together. Jack Chairs the SIPTU Cuban Solidarity Forum and has visited both Cuba and Colombia in the course of his international work, is a member of SIPTU's Global Solidarity Committee which reports to the NEC via the Equality Committee. Jack recently returned from his 5th visit to Cuba with SSWCF where the deputatuon visited Havana, Santa Clara and Varadero. Umiskin Press publish commissioned and non commissioned works on politics;biography;labour history;trade union studies;poetry and other cultural and sporting areas, mainly in limited print runs as well as short run pamphlets. Left Lives Volume 3 covered Irish Communists; a new work is in hand on Brendan Scott; and a pamphlet on the 1920 Munitions Strike should be ready for the Christmas markket and Volume 4 of Left Lives in 20th Century Ireland Irish Women is currently being researched.
A private press publishing works either commissioned or non commissioned in the areas of industrial relations,labour history, memoir, biography, trade unions, in both hardback and paperback editions in limited runs of up to 300 copies. The initial publication was Dear Madam - The Letters and mails of Dermot Sweeney. Kieran Jack McGinley, Employee for Trinity College of Dublin, and President of SIPTU’s Education Sector, has been selected as a VIP Member of the Covington Who’s Who Executive and Professional Registry. The selection recognizes Kieran Jack McGinley’s commitment to excellence in Higher Education. He began his career with the well-established booksellers, MH Gill & Son, in 1971. Moving to the public sector in 1974, he went to work in the library of Trinity College. Bookstacks, for the last 40 years. Campus Bookstacks, is a closed access storage facility spread over six locations on campus. , Jack oversee work for the department that is logistical, providing a regular service to readers for incoming material and reshelving the material when returned. He also manages the team who deal with the weekly intake of new stock, with daily deliveries to and from their external storage from Santry and stored material at a commercial storage facility . Jack holds a BA, PhD, and a postgraduate qualification in dispute and conflict resolution. He has contributed in the areas of health and safety, has written publications on substance abuse in the workplace and how to deal with it, and is involved in global solidarity projects in Colombia, Cuba, Venezuela, and Palestine. He is also a chartered member of the CIPD, is involved in the International Labour & Employment Relations Association and Irish Association of Industrial Relations, and serves as chairman for City Wide Crisis Drug Network. Recently, Jack was elected as president of the Irish Labour History Society. Jack has written three books to date: ‘Dear Comrade’; ‘Dealing with Addiction’; and ‘Dear Madam’. His private press, Umiskin Press, has recently published ‘Eggs & Rashers: Irish Socialist Memories’, written by Matt Merrigan. Jack was named Dubliner of the Month in January 1992,
