About

I'm an experienced construction manager currently working for Network Rail North West and Central Works Delivery route based in Birmingham. I am currently overseeing multiple schemes from earthworks stabilisation, road over rail bridge renewals, footbridges, river scour protection works and multiple tunnel schemes, the schemes vary in price from £500k to £5m in value. As a construction manager I play a vital role with early engagement with the DPE team to undertake IDC/IDR Reviews for upcoming schemes. I review AFC drawings for build ability and practicality and provide feedback to the team. I attend pre start meetings with contractors and review proposed methodology for quality. I review construction phase plans, and work package plans for all of my schemes and provide feedback to our principle contractors. I liaise daily with key stakeholders, the project management team and senior management for my schemes and report daily audits and health and safety inspections back to the team. I also provide feedback on progress, quality and assurance and any significant issues or non compliances of Network Rail Standards on site. I undertake and follow the network rail AMP process from the beginning of the scheme, right through to completion. I provide completion certificate or AMP14 to the principle contractor and the route asset managers on completion of the works and also review the end Health and Safety file for the schemes.

I went to Dawlish emergency as an agency worker supervisor. One of my biggest achievements yet as the rail reopened within six weeks. After the emergency works I was one of the general foremen left to look after the raising of the Dawlish sea wall, this included the day to day running of site, daily reports, task briefs etc, ordering materials, tools and general health and safety. Along with hitting deadlines we had the sea to contend with but I wouldn't change a bit of it.

I'm currently delegating work to Amco employees and three Sub contractors. This project is valued at £7.5m and is a new road over rail bridge. Works have included earthworks, deep drainage, demolition of the old bridge and abutments along with wing walls. Whilst the works were ongoing I was overseeing excavations for new abutment walls, Installation of Gabon baskets to retain the embankments, installation of steelworks and formwork right up to a contract lift with a 1000t crane to lift the new road over rail bridge deck and parapets. Installation of the new road layout, lighting columns, tarmac and crash barriers. Also other daily duties are daily briefs, daily diaries, writing Task Briefs and also starting to write Work Package Plans, ordering of plant and materials. Liaising with Network Rail Construction managers to ensure works were delivered to the highest of standards. During this project my site was awarded a silver star award by Network Rail for great health and safety and environmental works.

As a general foreman on Dawlish sea wall I had the role of over seeing the construction and raising of the new wall. These were L shaped precast units placed on a concrete foundation slab with reinforced steel work and drainage throughout. Also over seeing the formwork of wave deflection shutters being formed and installed ready for concrete pours. Remedial works to existing breaches from the Dawlish storm in February 2014 to name a few.
