I am an architectural designer who has worked both independently and in architectural practices. I view a building not as a stand-alone “object” but as something which should be integrated into an urban fabric. A responsible approach to architecture must include not only a commitment to urban design but prioritise ecological and social issues. I have approximately a decades’ worth of experience of working in architect’s offices. I have worked for offices in London such as Auketts and Rolfe Judd in London, Gabriel Lewis Associates/JLA and GMK Asssociates in the south-east and Kling Consult in Germany. My most recent jobs involved working on retail interior design projects and the refurbishment of a house for a Russian client in Knightsbridge. I worked on projects for hotels at Heathrow near London and also for hotels in locations such as Doha, Qatar, Reading, Gatwick, Nice, Marbella, St Lucia and the Maldives. I have also worked on a number of mixed-use/ residential projects. I have worked as a draftsman producing, both by hand and by design software, all the relevant layouts, sections and elevations on a project. I have been responsible for coordinating the input of engineers, interior designers and specialist sub-contractors. I was also in charge of researching materials and producing appropriate detailing drawings. I also worked in design and job running roles. I write a blog on architecture and urban design.
