Responsible for all plant operations including Manufacturing, Material Management, Maintenance and Environmental Health & Safety. - Played key strategic and operational role in growing Kairak from a $5 million to $34 million per year business unit and from an unknown to a key player in the commercial refrigeration industry: - Increased facility throughput from 1 to 70 units per week. - Reduced the average assembly labor content from 53 to 23 man-hours (56% reduction) through a variety of design modifications, revised assembly techniques, implementation of Lean Manufacturing and Product Line Simplification. - Improved shop safety from 12 to 1 recordable and zero lost-time injuries per year as a result of 5S, Visual Workplace and Kaizen activities. - Participated in a complete segmentation process of the Kairak business and took on the added role of Business Unit Manager with complete P&L responsibility for the newly created $8 Million per year segment. - Launched a new Production Division and designed a complete line of patented prep-tables in 96/97: - Transformed initial design prototypes into assembly line style production-friendly models. - Specified and sourced all standard and OEM components. Established partnerships with new vendor base: - Reduced material costs in excess of 30%. - Implemented Vendor Managed Inventory Systems for all welding, polishing, electrical, plumbing and hardware supplies. - Initiated and implemented outsourcing program for all non-core competency components, subassemblies and operations.
