Dr. Khalid Siddiqui is an Associate Professor of Biochemistry at Kuwait University. He spent over a decade at the Strategic Center for Diabetes Research at King Saud University, where he initiated research in diabetes genetics and biochemistry. He earned his Ph.D. in 2006 from Goethe University Frankfurt am Main, Germany, as an International Max Planck Research School student. He received the Keystone Symposia Traveling Fellowship during his doctoral studies and pursued postdoctoral training at the University of Manchester, United Kingdom. Dr. Siddiqui has been instrumental in establishing diabetes research centers in several Gulf countries. His research focuses on diabetes mellitus, a global health concern affecting over 450 million adults worldwide, with cases expected to rise. This condition is particularly alarming in the Arab world, where over 30% of the population lives with diabetes. Dr. Siddiqui's dedication and expertise have made him a leading figure in the field of diabetes research. His research aims to understand the high prevalence and incidence of diabetes in the region, as well as associated complications such as diabetic nephropathy (DKD). He is committed to developing innovative strategies to address this growing health challenge.
