I was trained in the special laboratories department, and this is an overview of some of the devices that I was trained on: Bio-Rad D100 : D100 is an equipment which performs High-Pressure Liquid Chromatography (HPLC). It’s used for blood hemoglobin testing and optimized for measuring a kind of Hemoglobins called HbA1C. InterLab G26 : G26 is an equipment which utilizes a technique called “Electrophoresis”. In this technique, molecules like proteins or hemoglobins are subjected to an electric current, which would cause these molecules to move and get separated based on their electrical charge and size. The equipment (G26) is capable of performing Serum Protein Electrophoresis (SPE), and Hemoglobin Electrophoresis (HbE). In SPE, the equipment separates the proteins in the samples in order to measure their concentrations and identify some diseases (usually related to the functions of the liver). In HbE, the equipment separates the hemoglobins in the samples in order to see the composition of these hemoglobins, and identify abnormal hemoglobins (usually related to blood diseases or for premarital testing). DiaSys SensoStar GL-30 : SensoStar GL-30 is a simple Point-Of-Care (POC) analyzer which measures Glucose and Lactate in the blood. The heart of the equipment is a biosensor which reacts with Glucose/Lactate in the blood samples and generates signals proportional to the levels of Glucose/Lactate. The analyzer can process up to 30 samples at the same time without any interference from the end-user. It helps tracking and monitoring Sugar/Lactate levels in the blood on a daily basis. Etc...
