Served as an environmental planner on a breadth of projects including co‐authoring award‐winning community sustainability plans in Asheville, North Carolina, grant management of post‐Katrina recovery funds for Orleans Parish, performing National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA) assessments for housing recovery in Harris Co, Texas, creating comprehensive planning documents in Louisiana and Galveston, Texas, and drafting biological assessments for threatened and endangered species. Served as a task leader on several high-value contracts, coordinating the work of technical experts to deliver high-quality work products even outside my own expertise. • Co-authored the Sustainability Management Plan for Asheville, NC, which won the 2010 Sustainability Award from the NC chapter of American Planning Association and the 2011 Honor Award from the American Academy of Environmental Engineers. • Co-developed an integrated urban systems model used to project impacts to greenhouse gas emissions, transportation demand, land use, solid waste, and ecosystems from proposed urban development. • Wrote the comprehensive plans for 2 neighborhoods in Galveston, TX and drafted Census statistics portion of all 18 plans on the project. Plans focused on community revitalization and environmental sustainability. • Promoted while at CDM, Inc. for outstanding project performance, leadership, and initiative. • Earned “Values in Action” award for teamwork and exemplary performance for Master Plan of Lake Charles, LA. • Completed over 100 environmental assessments for housing properties in Houston, TX post-Hurricane Ike, responding effectively to rapidly changing client needs. • Co-facilitated and managed public hearings on 18 neighborhood plans. Initial hearing brought over 150 residents. • Recognized sustainability leader while at CDM, serving on office- and company-wide sustainability committees.
Served as a researcher with the Institute in determining the characteristics of, and feasibility for a “green” industrial park in Camden County, NC. Tasked with answering the questions of what criteria would be used to make an industrial park green, is it feasible, what companies could be attracted, and how to get the county government’s approval.
Supported and collaborated with the Council’s Energy and Climate Change Working Group on redefining management practices to address climate change. Helped create a state-level partnership for climate action modeled after US Climate Action Partnership.
Facilitated the reconstitution of NC Project Green, an initiative that assists state agencies and universities in bringing sustainable practices to their operations. Collaborated with upper management from several state agencies on case studies and content for the program’s website, in addition to designing the website.
