I've been brought in repeatedly to do one specific thing: assess what's needed, build the communications function from zero, and run it at full scale as the needs change and evolve. No playbook. The same requirement every time. • First PR hire at HTC — built communications across 14 markets at the start of the company's global expansion trajectory to becoming a top 10 global smartphone brand. • First PR hire at Shopify APAC — built the regional framework solo at the height of COVID, when the explosion in e-commerce and online shopping made APAC a strategic priority for the first time. • First global PR hire at WEMIX — built an entirely new communications function from zero for a blockchain and Web3 gaming platform launching at the height of global interest in the space. What makes this possible is range and adaptability. The ability to cover the full spectrum of communications — from boardroom strategy to writing the press release myself — and to scale up or down, pivot, and rebuild as the company grows and the market changes. I also research and write about AI communications — specifically what it demands from workers, organisations and leaders navigating a technology that is technically complex, politically sensitive, and widely misunderstood.
