My role as Director is both dynamic and rewarding, combining technical leadership, business strategy, and hands-on problem-solving in an environment where no two days are ever the same. Running Swift alongside Derry and Matt has been the most fulfilling professional journey of my career. Watching the business grow from the ground up, achieving significant milestones, securing long-term client partnerships, and building a trusted and highly capable team remains a constant source of motivation and pride. With a strong background in network infrastructure, systems management, cloud technologies, cybersecurity, and managed IT services, I remain committed to ensuring Swift maintains the high standards, attention to detail, and customer-focused approach that have defined the business since day one.
I joined Mirus to work alongside my brother Paul and close friend Matt Green, following the purchase of shares from a former director, Lee Greef, in early 2005. I served as a company director for just over a year before reverting to a purely technical role to prioritise spending time with my young family. Remaining with the business as a Senior Network Engineer, I played a key role in securing significant support contracts, including one with a Tesco subsidiary and another with a major power tools manufacturer. In September 2009, I took the leap with two talented friends and engineers to co-found Swift IT Computer Services Ltd. It was the start of an exciting new chapter—and I’ve never looked back.
I transitioned into the networks department when an opportunity arose, working alongside the legendary Mike Webber—an engineer renowned for his meticulous standards and genuine pride in his craft. I learned a great deal from his example, and those lessons have stayed with me throughout my career. The role focused on deploying and migrating a legal software solution and its supporting infrastructure, typically within on-site SBS environments. Larger clients operated across multiple sites, each with its own domain controllers and Exchange servers, adding complexity to every project. I thrived on the challenge, finding real satisfaction in seeing a successful deployment come together. Delivering these projects as part of a dedicated, high-performing team was an incredibly rewarding experience.
This was my first field-based IT role, and I had the privilege of working with a fantastic team—particularly the Customer Service Team, whose support and camaraderie made a lasting impression. The role involved extensive travel across England and Wales, diagnosing and repairing desktop hardware and printers on-site. It was a hands-on position that built my foundational troubleshooting skills and gave me valuable exposure to a wide range of IT environments and client interactions.
