Auckland, Auckland, New Zealand
I help people and organisations to create and deliver value through AI, data, innovation and data science. I was CEO of Precision Driven Health, New Zealand's health data science partnership from 2016 until 2023, and a member of the Digital Council of Aotearoa New Zealand. I've worked in corporate, consulting and academic roles, leading projects in health, dairy, public service, information technology and aerospace. I sit on advisory boards of research centers and university departments, and speak at national and international conferences. I love building teams who love what they do.
I lead Deloitte New Zealand's AI insights and engagement team, where we focus on delivering the tools needed for today's challenges. We help people and organisations to think and act better through AI, data and data science.
Natural, Artificial and Organizational Intelligence represent the broad field of intelligence research, from biology and psychology, to sociology and business, to artificial intelligence and machine learning. NAOI covers anything and everything that can think, and we aim to understand all of it.
I help Orion Health to build and deploy technology that enables clinicians, consumers and health systems to get the most value out of data. This includes unifying health data and safely utilising AI to empower people to make the best decisions based on data. I build partnerships to enhance innovation, and help to establish good AI and data governance. I have overseen the devlopment and launch of products for natural language processing, AI and algorithm management, data de-identification, and risk models for health outcomes.
Orion Health is a global healthcare platform advancing population health and precision medicine solutions for personalized care across the entire health community. Hundreds of thousands of clinicians in over 27 countries use Orion Health products to care for the more than 110 million patients. As Research Director, I am leading a program to utilize analytics and data science to improve clinical workflow, decision-making and patient-centered care. While also building up the Orion Health data science products and services team, I have primarily focussed on establishing the Precision Driven Health Partnership.
Precision Driven Health (PDH) was an award-winning research partnership between New Zealand’s health IT sector, health providers and universities, aimed at improving health outcomes through data science. We developed tools to personalise health by running machine learning models on data captured by health information systems, consumer devices, social networks, genetic testing and other sources. Founded in 2016 by Orion Health, the University of Auckland, and Waitemata District Health Board, we raised and invested $38m over seven years in collaborations. Along the way we made major contributions to modelling for the New Zealand COVID-19 response, AI governance and ethics frameworks, research commercialisation and win-win collaboration models.
