In 2017, I co-founded CIANA, a custom and hospitality lighting company rooted in artistry and operational excellence. Serving as Co-President, I have been able to help shape the brand’s direction, scale, and success. Most recently, I stepped into the role of CEO of Varaluz x CIANA, following CIANA’s acquisition of the brand. My focus now is expanding Varaluz’s reach while preserving what designers love most — its creative voice, sustainable values, and bold design approach. I’m passionate about turning vision into action, building purpose-driven companies, and creating lasting value at every stage of growth.
After the acquisition of Lone Peak Biologics by Orca Health, I'm now focusing on growing Ciana Decorative Lighting that we acquired one year ago. Ciana is multi-national company that creates custom lighting using the highest grade crystal available. Ciana creates lighting for private residences, luxury hotels and temples for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.

It has also been used with the management teams from established companies to enter new markets and navigate disruptive markets.
Medsource is an innovative social networking company whose mission is to improve health outcomes, lower costs and foster a more consumer-centric healthcare industry. We own and operate a growing portfolio of condition-specific social networks that today serve over one million registered members across more than 50 health conditions. Each site leverages social and mobile elements to empower patients and caregivers with connections to supportive peers, personalized information, and relevant products and services.
Responsible for product development, vendor relations, installation partners, product assembly and delivery. Clearplex has designed and manufactured a polymer film protection system for windshields called “Windshield Protection Film”. This transparent film virtually eliminates damage to a vehicle windshield caused by rocks, road debris and blowing sand. The company was successfully sold by Plumb and Smith in 2010.
Acquired Beehive Brick and Stone in 2004. At that time it was a 25-year-old masonry boutique that imports unique products to provide any home or project a distinctive style. We added a state-of-the-art showroom with designers and multi-media. The designers help customers eliminate the difficult decisions that go into building a new home. Our 7,000 square foot showroom is the largest showroom with the best selection of brick and stone in the state of Utah. Together Kevin Plumb & Jeff Smith tripled the revenues of this 25-year old company in the first year of operation since acquiring the company. The company was sold in 2007 for a 23x return on investment.
