I am passionately committed to teaching a diverse and comprehensive arts education program; one that fosters a creative, supportive, and fun learning environment. My priorities are maximizing student learning and performance, integrating technology into the music classroom and instilling curiosity and creative expression into all my students. My experiences with music range from Indonesian gamelan and African drumming to composing electronic dance music on computers. I am very proud of my musicianship and my abilities to engage and teach students how the performing arts can enrich their lives.
As a student teacher at Rocky Top Middle school, I taught 6th-8th-grade concert band classes, as well as two jazz bands. I assisted in student achievement through various assignments and instrument-specific pedagogy. I also led rehearsals and supervised students at concerts, festivals, and other events.
I led kindergarten, 3rd, 4th and 5th-grade classes through musical rehearsals (varying sizes), taught a variety of musical concepts, facilitated comprehensive music discussion, integrated cross-curricular lessons, taught individualized instruction, and developed curricula with my cooperating teacher.
