With a passion for architectural design and a background in mechanical engineering, my life and career are a combination of deep rooted creativity and technical prowess. In a field with so many artists and visionaries, I bring a down-to-earth perspective and the important ability to look at all aspects of a design. When I came into my current role at DeckTec, I had no architectural design experience. Using my strength to learn and adapt to new roles, I quickly became involved in many stages our projects from CAD drafting to structural design to producing construction documents. • Work in the design department to prepare all projects for sales presentations and permit application. • Drafting 2D and 3D models of deck and roof cover projects using SketchUp • Design substructure of completely custom decks and size girders/caissons • Execute highly detailed material and labor take-offs for sale pricing • Technical proposal writing
• Role: Systems Engineer – Determined measurable design specifications and ensured the success of the project by monitoring their completion throughout the year • Worked for LANL on a multi-disciplinary engineering team to design and construct a dual-centrifuge test environment in order to observe the effects of dynamic acceleration on an object. • Developed and confirmed a vector-based dynamics model to help predict more extreme test results • Manufactured in-house components by welding and machining with mills/lathes
• Designed and built in-class thermodynamics demonstrations • Held office hours to help students with projects/homework • Assisted professor with grading of all class deliverables
• Role: Test Engineer - Conducted finite element analysis of the bike frame and all components, showing the safety of our design prior to physical testing • Designed and built a custom bicycle for drag racing, powered by only a cordless drill • Produced professional quality engineering drawings of all components
