Ken Van Winkle is Womble Bond Dickinson's Vice Chair, focused on creating a firm that provides the legal services that the market seeks from the highest quality attorneys and legal professionals. Ken wants to insure that the firm’s clients’ experience exceeds their expectations at a value they expect. To achieve these goals, Ken seeks to create a platform that provides the firm's attorneys and legal professionals the resources they need to meet these objectives. As a practicing lawyer, Ken is a member of the firm's Real Estate Transactional Group and focuses his practice on real estate equity and debt financing; sales and acquisitions and leasing. Ken represents clients in a variety of real estate finance transactions, including equity joint venture financing transactions, mortgage based lending, franchise lending transactions, sales/leaseback transactions and leasehold mortgage transactions. Most of his work involves representation of institutional clients including insurance companies and REIT’S as well as investors and developers. His experience covers the broad spectrum of real estate transactions, including extensive work with real estate development joint ventures. Ken has a particular focus on ground up development work for investors. He has represented clients in acquiring and disposing of multifamily residential, single family residential, commercial, retail and industrial real estate, both developed and undeveloped. He has experience handling the joint venture and purchase and sale of multifamily products, retail centers, office complexes, industrial buildings and residential land developments. In the area of Real Estate leasing, Ken represents several restaurant chains in connection with their leasing agreements, licensure issues and disputes on a local, regional and national scale. His experience has provided extensive exposure to the requirements and posture of many local, regional and national retail landlords.
