Superior Technician on the LSS D22 SANS instrument Large dynamic range small-angle diffractometer D22 Small-angle scattering is a technique that measures the deviation to small angles (much less than one degree to several degrees) of an X-ray or neutron beam due to structures of small size in the sample. “Small” means dimensions of a few tenths to about 100 nanometres, such as clusters in alloys, polymers, or biological macromolecules • Responsible for the day to day running of the D22 instrument • Identifies,and repairs instrument failures and replaces parts as required • Conducts post maintenance monitoring to ensure repairs and changes to the systems are effective • Liaison with local contact and visiting instrument users to ensure all needed equipment is available and working according to required specifications • Responsible for the set-up and installation of Cryostats, Cryomagnets and Furnaces • Designs and implements instrument performance improvements. : new HV mirror beamline extension - improved the instrument flux : automatic dual water bath control • Using Solid works software designs and machines new experiment sample holders
Chief Process and Equipment Technician • Responsible for completing all scheduled and preventative maintenance procedures on the ASM EAGLE 12 toolset • Lead equipment maintenance trainer for new equipment technicians on existing and new procedures • Contributed to strategic forward preventative maintenance planning with the management team • Reduced equipment downtime on numerous maintenance procedures by using lean techniques • Lead the modules manufacturing operations and daily keeps the machinery going at optimum levels • Trained and lead the introduction of the 5S' into the CDO module from beginning to completion • Develops equipment training material and new equipment procedures • Monitors modules machinery using defect tools such as SPC++ / Klarity to schedule / improve preventative maintenance • Takes individual ownership for equipment tasks within module, ensuring completion times are met • Acts as a change agent for any equipment or process impact to cluster
