As a dedicated professional with a Bachelor of Arts in Gerontology from San Diego State University, I have a deep commitment to improving the lives of seniors. During my time at San Diego State university I have excelled in courses on writing and public speaking, micro and macro social work, programming for aging adults, psychology, public health, Interdisciplinary studies, and American sign language. In my recent role as an intern at Alzheimer’s San Diego, I provided direct support to clients and caregivers, ensuring their comfort and well-being through tailored engagement activities and respite care. My strong written communication skills were key in drafting reports, emails, presentations, and other documents. My volunteer experience as an Activities Coordinator at Malcolm’s Heart Inc has honed my abilities in program planning, volunteer coordination, and community building. I have successfully executed targeted programming for unhoused seniors, facilitated relationships between young adults and seniors, and engaged with seniors facing mental health issues, cognitive impairments, and substance abuse. As a Student Leader at San Diego State University, I created a safe and inclusive environment for students transitioning to college life. My work involved conflict resolution, advocating for students in crisis, and collaborating with a team to meet the diverse needs of first-year and upper-division students. With a strong foundation in gerontology, hands-on experience, and a passion for making a positive impact, I am excited to continue my journey in supporting and empowering seniors in various capacities.
