As the MIC of Swimming at Bryanston Primary School, I lead the Grade RR and R Learn to Swim Programme, the Grade 1-3 Physical Education Swimming, and extra-mural swimming coaching. My focus is on building confidence, stroke correction and fitness in young swimmers. I firmly believe that swimming is an essential part of a child's holistic education. Before transitioning to my role in swimming, I taught English for 2 years and Social Science for 4 years, gaining valuable experience in classroom dynamics. I hold a B.Ed. Intermediate Phase degree from the University of Pretoria, where I specialized in English, Life Orientation, and Learning Support (Inclusive Education). I also completed a TESOL course through the University of Pretoria, enhancing my ability to engage with diverse learners. I believe that meaningful interaction between teachers and students—both inside and outside the classroom—is fundamental to fostering growth and success. My experience with both CAPS and IEB curricula has further refined my teaching approach, ensuring that I can adapt to a variety of educational settings.
