With over 30 years of experience in inpatient and outpatient rehabilitation therapy—spanning clinical care, operations, and informatics—I lead initiatives that bridge data, technology, and patient-centered care. I hold credentials as a Physical Therapist, an MBA, a post-baccalaureate certification in Informatics from the JHU School of Medicine, and am a Certified EPIC Clinician Builder. As Director of Clinical Informatics & Data Analytics for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at Johns Hopkins Hospital, I oversee a team that develops business intelligence dashboards, reports, and extracts data to support operations, research, and quality improvement. Conversely, I spearhead multidisciplinary informatics efforts focused on optimizing clinical workflows, documentation, and underlying data framework. My leadership has fostered a culture of informatics, and has guided two major electronic health record implementations, including a boutique rehabilitation system and EPIC. I actively contribute to research teams and serve as a member of the Johns Hopkins Precision Medicine Center of Excellence for Stroke Care (publications listed below). As an invited lecturer and frequent national presenter, I’m passionate about ensuring that EHRs and hospital systems foster a learning health system—driving clinical efficiency, quality, and value.
Leads clinical informatics for the Department of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation at JHH for integrated implementation and utilization of the EMR and other systems.
Over 20 years of experience as a clinician, manager, and system administrator across the continuum of care within the Johns Hopkins Enterprise provide the basis of my leadership perspective. My MBA and Clinical Informatics studies further support the foundation of applied knowledge. As Clinical Analyst, I am System Administrator for our departmental EMR, and work collaboratively with our departmental leadership teams across acute care and outpatient operations. Additionally, I work closely with leadership from several areas of IT within the enterprise. I am passionate about the application of clinical informatics and analytics for the accelerated translation of knowledge to clinical practice, and for the aggregation of outcomes data to further advance the effectiveness of clinical care.
I have had the wonderful opportunity to be invited as guest lecturer by friends and colleagues at various DPT programs. Topics include leadership, innovation, management, health care reform, health care trends, the future of physical therapy, informatics, and analytics. I have learned something every time I visit. Thank you all for having me come to share some thoughts and have a thoughtful discussion!
