About

Experienced BABCP Accredited Therapist skilled in delivering psychotherapeutic interventions, with a Bachelor of Science (BSc) and Master of Science (MSc) in Psychology, Postgraduate Diploma in Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) and Certificate in MBCT awarded by Oxford Mindfulness Centre (NHS England Project). Further qualified as an EMDR Therapist and to adapt therapeutic approaches to support clients with long term health conditions (LTC). I have dedicated myself to developing key experiences and skills across a wide variety of mental health, research, and community settings. I endeavour to specialise and seek further opportunties and training for continued clinical development. This has also included involvement in a Pilot scheme to implement treatment pathways within IAPT for clients with long term health conditions (LTC's) such as Cancer, Chronic Fatigue/ME, Neurological conditions (Fibromyalgia FMS, Dystonia, Epilepsy, MS ..), Cardiac Conditions, Pulmonary conditions (e.g. COPD, Asthma), and medically unexplained symptoms (MUPS). This pathway has now become mainstream within our service and becoming more so in other services. Interventions encompass CBT, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Compassion Focused Therapy (CFT) and Mindfulness Based Interventions (MBI). The next main projects will involve participation in a Screening pilot scheme where my role will be to supervise screeners regionally and faciliate related pathways. Additionally, liaising with management and clinical teams to create and implement pathways delivering MBCT as a core therapy within our IAPT service.

I am a member of a High Intensity Team offering CBT Therapy to clients within IAPT Primary Care. Problem severity is mild to moderate but does extend to presentations with increased severity, chronicity, and/or complexity. Risk procedures are in place and adhered to, as well as regular peer and one to one supervision secured. We also have the advantage of shaping and attending regular learning sessions and CPD events that take place internally and externally to the service. As an extension to this, I also facilitate training and learning sessions within the service and to other services, organisations or clients groups. I provide support to male and female older adults who are currently detained in hospital under Sections 2 or 3 of the Mental Health Act 1983. Examples include parkinson's disease, schizophrenia, psychosis, acute brain injury (ABI), learning difficulties, bipolar disorder, personality disorders, depression and anxiety. My role entails observing patients on a one-to-one basis in accordance with their care plan and risk profiles, safeguarding patients, staff, and visitors, supporting patients with daily tasks (e.g. washing, dressing, toileting, eating, moving), encouraging patients to retain their functioning as far as possible (e.g. mobility, social engagement, diet and fluid), completing nursing duties (e.g. taking and recording physical observations), and writing up observations and daily notes. Basic Life Support, Manual Handling, and Management of Violence and Aggression (MOVA) training was also undertaken to fulfil this role.
