At 19, I took my first leap into entrepreneurship by founding my own business, and I haven't looked back since. Despite never having held a traditional full-time job or attended a job interview, my journey has been rich with opportunities and experiences. While studying at university, I sought part-time work in the cleaning industry, which led me to establish Cleanworks in 2002. Cleanworks is a leading provider of professional commercial cleaning services in Australia, where our team of 400+ extensively trained and highly experienced cleaners is equipped to handle any cleaning challenge. We primarily service offices, industrial sites, schools, and medical centres, tailoring our services to meet the unique needs of each client. Our “People First” philosophy has been fundamental to our success, enabling us to grow Cleanworks into one of the most trusted cleaning companies in the country. Go Clean Up was a Blog providing coaching and support to cleaning business owners and those looking establish a cleaning business. Over time, this expanded to incorporate an online video series and range of face-to-face coaching programs. Many of those coached continue to operate successful cleaning businesses today.
Seeing an opportunity to offer a tailored cleaning service to the construction industry in 2008 I established a new organisation specialising in post-construction cleanup services for South East Queensland building sites. Overseeing the financial control and strategic management of the business, over the course of four years I grew it to an annual turnover of $1 million with 30 full-time contractors.
Need Cleaners was an online recruitment portal to support cleaning companies in their search for cleaners. The portal enabled companies to advertise cleaning assignments and recruit from a pool of verified cleaners, complete with cleaner reviews and ratings from cleaning companies who had worked with the cleaner previously.
