With my guidance, organizations can deploy digital products and messages that carry an inherent immunity against unhappy customers. The "secret" is continuous user-focused design. As a communications professional who speaks tech, I've shaped stories at organizations like AT&T, About.com, Boeing, Microsoft and King County Elections. As a coach, Iโve bolstered student confidence in digital skills ranging from coding websites to writing for the web, from understanding how "social media" work (and why today's buzzword is a bit of old news) to seeing the economic disruption that digital technology carries in its wake. And as a web content producer, I managed the website for the largest county in the country to vote entirely by mail, a site published in five languages. Accessibility, inclusion, on-target messaging, mobile-aware and legal obligations โ all key responsibilities. Captivating and enthusiastic speaker. Award winning writer; two stints with About.com. Specialty: problem solver Interests: digital journalism (citizen and professional); digital media best practices; public policy specifically the intersection of technology and power (politics/journalism); social media content and strategy; website design and usability; motorcycle safety.
