Kathy currently serves as President/CEO of Alliance Safety Council, an innovative nonprofit organization providing online and instructor-led safety training as well as technology and records management solutions. Since joining Alliance in 2004, Kathy has actively implemented policies that shifted the focus of the organization more toward its members – streamlining processes and empowering companies to make more effective use of their time and resources. She’s a recipient of the Alden Andre PTEC Service Award for her contributions to workforce development projects having direct involvement with National Science Foundation grants in excess of $11 million. Kathy has also received the Champion of Craft Education Award by the Greater Baton Rouge Industry Alliance. Assisted in the development and piloting of the eight core courses that are now the cornerstone of the PTEC program at 32 campuses nationwide. Responsibilities included hiring instructors and working with industry to identify relevant course materials.
Process Operator and active member of PPG’s emergency squad for 3 years. Instrument specialist supporting both operations unit labs and the quality control lab with method development and equipment evaluation, installation and maintenance/repairs for analytical equipment throughout the Lake Charles facility. Developed and lead proactive strategies for the Instrument Specialist group centered around the collection, evaluation and interpretation of data resulting in recommended changes and modifications to equipment and preventive maintenance protocols thereby minimizing downtime and supporting production schedules and environmental stewardship. Served as Subject Matter Expert (SME) in entry-level operations and instrumentation for the Center for Excellence in Process Technology (funded by the National Science Foundation) thereby creating the eight core courses used in the process technology curriculum now taught in technical schools, community colleges and select 4-year university programs across the country.
Instructor for classes held at McNeese State University. Served as industry chair for the McNeese Sowela (Southwest Louisiana Community and Technical College) and the state PTEC Advisory Boards.
